Privacy
Scrawlcut runs in your browser, and what you make in it stays on your computer.
Who looks after your data
Scrawlcut is made and run by an independent maker in the Philippines, @h.isthere on Instagram (“we” and “us” on this page). For anything about your data, email h.isthere@scrawlcut.com.
What stays on your computer
The songs, videos, pictures, drawings and projects you use in Scrawlcut are kept in this browser’s storage, on your computer. Making videos needs no account, and your work is never uploaded unless you turn on cloud sync for it (below).
The pages also remember a few settings there, such as whether the Boil switch is on.
What it downloads
The first time you use Hear and match, your browser downloads a speech library from jsDelivr and a Whisper speech model from Hugging Face, then keeps them for next time. Those services see that download like any other web request. Your song is heard on your computer and never sent to them.
What it doesn’t do
No analytics, no ads, no tracking and no cookies. The fonts come with the page, not from a font service. We don’t sell your data, and we don’t share it for advertising.
Cloudflare hosts these pages. Like any web host, it handles ordinary web requests, including your IP address and browser type, to deliver the site and protect it from attacks.
If you sign in
Accounts open with paid plans. Until then there’s nothing to sign in to. When they open, you’ll sign in with Google, and only to buy a plan or use cloud sync.
Google tells Scrawlcut your name, email address and profile picture. We use them to know it’s you, to greet you on your account page and to email you about your plan.
Your account, your plan and what you’ve bought are kept in a database run by Supabase, so a plan comes with you to other computers. Your sign-in is kept in this browser’s storage so you stay signed in. Signing out removes it, and leaves your projects where they are.
If you buy a plan
Lemon Squeezy runs checkout as the merchant of record: it takes the payment, works out the tax and sends your receipts. You give your payment details, name, email address and billing address to Lemon Squeezy on its own checkout page, under its privacy policy. Scrawlcut never sees your card details.
Lemon Squeezy tells us what you bought, the price, its status and its order and customer numbers, so we can give you the plan and help with billing questions.
If you turn on cloud sync
Pro Annual and Early Supporter can turn on cloud sync. Only the projects you turn it on for, with their media, and your library if you choose, are uploaded, to private storage on Supabase that only your account can open. Signing in alone uploads nothing.
We don’t open or use what you upload, except to sync it back to you, or when you ask us for help with it.
Where it’s kept, and for how long
Supabase, Lemon Squeezy, Google and Cloudflare may store and handle data outside your country. They work for Scrawlcut only to run it.
Your account and cloud data are kept until you delete them or your account. If a Pro Annual plan ends, its cloud data stays readable, and we won’t delete it without emailing you at least 30 days first. Records of what you bought are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, download or delete what Scrawlcut keeps about you, or to close your account, by emailing h.isthere@scrawlcut.com. Depending on where you live, for example under the Philippines’ Data Privacy Act or the GDPR in the EU and UK, you may have more rights, including the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Children
Scrawlcut isn’t meant for children under 13, and accounts aren’t for them.
Keeping and removing your work
To keep a copy outside the browser, download a project with its media (File, then Download with media). Deleting a project in File, then Projects, or clearing this site’s data in your browser’s settings, removes it from this browser.
Changes to this page
If this page changes, the date below changes too. If a change affects what we keep about account holders, we’ll email them before it applies.
